Sports Personalities Join National Mourning For MH17 Victims

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 22 (Bernama) -- Sports personalities in the country joined thousands of other Malaysians in paying their last respects to Malaysian victims who perished in the Malaysia Airlines (MAS) Flight MH17 tragedy, for which a special ceremony was held at the Bunga Raya Complex, Kuala Lumpur International Airport, Friday.

Interim coach for the national hockey squad, Arul Selvaraj said the national team paid their last respects this morning before starting training at the National Hockey Stadium in Bukit Jalil here.

"Earlier this morning, all the players observed a one-minute silence, offered prayers and put on black turbans for the training this morning. Even players going to the gymnasium also observed the minute's silence," he said when contacted by Bernama.

He said the national squad also watched the special ceremony honouring the MH17 victims which was telecast live on all television stations in the country.

The telecast had called on all Malaysians to observe a minute's silence for the victims at 10.54 am.....
