IPOH, Aug 20 (Bernama) -- The National under-18 hockey squad emerged champions after beating Singapore 10-0 in the final of the 2014 Fourth Asian Schools Hockey Championship at the Sultan Azlan Shah Stadium here Wednesday.
Nik Muhd Nik Rozemi opened accounts in the 3rd minute with a field goal to beat Singapore goalkeeper, Wee Wei Xuan before Mohd Noor Adha Mohd Fadzil made it 2-0 in the fifth minute.
In the 11th minute, Khairul Helmy Napi scored Malaysia's third goal, followed by Muhd Hafizuddin Zaidi (27th and 30th) minutes while Muhd Najme Ahmad Hayazi's 31st minute strike made it 6-0 before half time.
The second half saw Malaysia score four goals through Misniwan Gusni (38th minute), Muhd Luqman Hakim (60th minute), Muhd Najme (61st minute) and Luqman Nul Hakim Ahmad Shukran (66th minute).
Meanwhile, coach Wan Mohd Roslan Wan Abdul Rahman when met by Bernama said his boys gave their best performance in the final match to emerge as champions.....
