National Swimmer Wilson Fails To Compete In Finals

NANJING, Aug 17 (Bernama) -- National swimmer Wilson Sim has to be contended to be at the 11th placing of the men's individual free style 400m preliminary when he failed to go to the finals on the first day of the 2nd Youth Olympic Games (YOG 2014) here.

Wilson recorded a time of 3:55.72s, his personal best so far this year at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Centre Stadium.

Egyptian swimmer, Ahmed Akram dominated the preliminary with a time record of 3:52.02s, followed by Acosta Marcelo Alberto from El Salvador with a record of 3:53.14s.

"I feel quite disappointed because I failed to go to the final rounds but it will not break my spirit to strive further," he told Bernama here Sunday.

Prior to this, Wilson was in second placing at Kuala Lumpur 50th Milo/PRAM Invitational Age Group championship last April with his personal best time record of 15:48.0s for the 1500m men's individual free style event.....
