KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- World number seven Milos Raonic of Canada is heading a star-studded cast of world class tennis players in the 2014 Malaysian Open, held at the Putra Stadium in Bukit Jalil from Sept 20 to 28.
The organiser, IMG, said the US$1,022,255 (RM3.264 million) tournament under the ATP World Tour, would also feature other top players such as world number 11 Juan Martin Del Potro from Argentina; Kei Nishikori of Japan (12th), Latvian Ernests Gulbis (13th), world number 17th South African Kevin Anderson and defending champion Joao Sousa of Portugal.
In a statement, IMG also noted that 19-year-old Australian Nick Kyrgios, whose mother is from Malaysia, was set to make his debut at the tournament.
The final draw of 28 players will be confirmed in the upcoming weeks.
Three Malaysian singles wild cards for the qualifier, as determined by the Lawn Tennis Association of Malaysia, will be announced later, with one of them partnering Kyrgios in the men's doubles category.....
