KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- Singapore is the only country so far to have confirmed participation in the 2014 Malaysian Junior Open Golf Championship which will be held at the Sabah Golf & Country Club in Kota Kinabalu from Sept 11-13.
Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) President, Tan Sri Mohd Anwar Mohd Nor said the city-state would be sending 12 golfers in the ninth edition of the tournament which was first held in 2006.
He noted that normally 12 countries would participate in the tournament but at the moment, they only received official confirmation from Singapore.
"We hope Amir Nazrin Jailani will be able to retain the boys' category crown while we're putting high hopes for our golfers to wrest back the girls' title which last time was won by Kelly Tan in 2009," he told a press briefing on the tournament, here, Tuesday.
Mohd Anwar said they decided to choose Sabah as this year's hosts based on their previous experience of organising the tournament back in 2010, which was held at the Nexus Karambunai Golf Resort.....
