KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- The decision to drop Muhammad Dharma Raj Abdullah as the hockey national chief coach with the 2014 Asia Games in Incheon South Korea just around the corner, is inappropriate, said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar.
He said it was not that he was unsupportive of the move but the decision of the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) was not ideal as there was less than 40 days before the Asia Games.
"Dharma may have identified the strengths and weaknesses of the squad. The loss at the Commonwealth Games was not the reason Dharma was ousted as as there was no target for the squad.
"I think it is related to other issues. I hope other sport associations do not emulate MHC over such matters," he told reporters after handing over the national flag to the Youth Olympics contingent here today.
Meanwhile, on the crisis in the Badminton of Malaysia (BAM), Khairy urged its president Tan Sri Tengku Mahaleel Tengku Ariff and National Chief Coach Rashid Sidek to solve the problem in a face-to-face meeting and not via the press.....
