Last update: 11/08/2014

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 11 (Bernama) -- The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) general manager Kenny Goh Monday denied reports that that National singles head coach Rashid Sidek was intending to tender his resignation.

Kenny Goh said the former international had only wanted to take a break after coming back from the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

"Rashid contacted me yesterday to inform that he would like to extend his leave until Wednesday. He is still in the BAM fold and I do not know any rumours that claimed he would resign soon.

"Since we will be facing two major tournaments soon, first the BWF World Championships in Denmark (Aug 22) and the Incheon Asian Games in South Korea which starts on Sept 19, it is important to concentrate on the task ahead," Kenny told reporters when met at the draw for the BWF World Championships, in Kuala Lumpur.

Kenny was asked to comment on media reports that Rashid had decided to resign following a 'tiff' with BAM President Tan Sri Tengku Mahaleel Tengku Ariff.....
