PUTRAJAYA, Aug 9 (Bernama) -- MY Angels, from the Malaysian Yachting Assocition and the sole women's team at the ongoing Malaysian Sailing League (LLM) championship here pulled off a major upset when they qualified for the quarter-finals at the Putrajaya Maritime Centre, Saturday.
The novices made it after coming in seventh place overall when they won three races today in the round-robin stage which also ended today.
The other seven teams that made the cut for tomorrow's quarter-finals are Sime Darby Foundation-KRT skippered by Jeremy Koo, KFC/MYA RT (Nik Ashraf Qaedi Nik Azizan), Royal Malaysian Navy Match Racing Team (Mohd Masyuri Rahmat), MYA/MSN (Mohd Faizal Norizan), MYA/UiTM (Khairul Nizam Mohd Afendy), SPA/JKR Sailing Team (Shaiful Bakhtiar) and RSYC/Setiawest (Rizal Sazili).
The semi-finals and final will also be held tomorrow and the winner will get to represent Malaysia at the prestigious Monsoon Cup which will be held in Pulau Duyong, Terengganu at the end of the year.
MY Angels skipper, Nurul Elia Anuar said they did not place very high hopes and were more interested in gaining experience as they were the first all women sailing team in the country to take part in the league.....
