UniMAP Targeting For 10 Gold Medals At 39th SUKUM

ARAU, Aug 8 (Bernama) -- Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is targeting to win 10 gold medals at the 39th Malaysian University Games (SUKUM) at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai, Johor from Aug 13 to 23.

UniMAP Vice-Chancellor, Datuk Prof Dr Kamarudin Hussin said the target was based on the achievement of the university as the SUKUM overall champion which it held for six times since 2008.

He said that among the events where the university was hoping to grab the gold medals were athletics, tenpin bowling, hockey, volleyball, football, futsal, tennis and lawn bowls.

"UniMAP is also targeting to defend its position as the overall champion. Besides the 10 gold medals targeted, we also confident of winning seven silver and five bronze medals," Kamarudin said in a statement, here today.

He said that the UniMAP contingent comprised 308 athletes and officials and the athletes had been undergoing training since July up to Aug 10.....
