KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 5 (Bernama) -- Sixteen teams, including several of international veterans, will be vying for honours in the 14th Royal Selangor Club (RSC)-Tiger International Soccer 7's 2014 Tournament, to be held at the RSC Bukit Kiara Sports Annexe, here, this weekend.
Organising Committee Chairman Vincent Thambyrajah said the increase in the number of international teams for this year's tournament showed that the event continuously received enormous response from local and international clubs.
He said that the organiser would give priority to teams which have former senior internationals and ex-state players in the veteran football tournament which involves two categories -- Masters (40 years above) and the Grand Masters (50 years above), played in a round-robin format.
"We have quality teams competing compared to the previous years. We decided to only hold this tournament for two days because we do not want to interrupt the international teams which could have other activities," Thambyrajah told reporters after the announcement of the tournament by RSC President, Andrew Bryan Perera, in the capital, Tuesday.
He said the winners in the Masters and Grand Masters category (Cup competition) will receive RM2,000 each, a challenge trophy and medals while the first runner-up in both categories walk away with RM1,000 each and medals.....
