GLASGOW, Aug 4 (Bernama) -- National Sports Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong was full of praise for the badminton squad's achievement in the Glasgow Commonwealth Games.
Zolkples said the squad's ability to win three gold medals and meet the target in the absence of World Number one Datuk Lee Chong Wei, must be commended.
"They fought for the gold the hard way. The women's doubles pair especially had to raise their game to beat the Indian pair which is more experienced and consistent," he told reporters, here Sunday.
However, he (Zolkples) was not happy with the performance of the senior players.
"The team was certainly affected by the absence of Lee Chong Wei because he is a very influential player but I am disappointed with the performance shown by the senior players. I have notified the BAM President to overcome the issue before heading to Incheon, South Korea for the Asian Games next month," he said.....
