KUALA TERENGGANU, Aug 3 (Bernama) -- National weightlifter Mohd Hafifi Mansor, who clinched the gold medal in the men's 69kg category at the Glasgow Commonwealth Games, said he intends to share the knowledge and skills he has learned with others, especially weightlifters in his home state of Terengganu.
Mohd Hafifi, 24, who hails from Seberang Takir here, said this was needed in view of poor performances by Terengganu weightlifters at the Malaysia Games (Sukma) where at the 2012 edition in Terengganu, they were only able to win two bronze.
He said the state contingent could do with new approaches and techniques, which he was willing to share.
"We have a development programme but it is not keeping with the times. I think if we follow the programmes used by China, Russia and Kazakhstan, we can do a whole lot better," he said when met on arrival at the Sultan Mahmud Airport here Sunday.
He said he became interested in weightlifting while still at school and that his mother Norizan Embong was his main inspiration to strive for greater heights along with the backing of the National Sports Council (NSC).....
