KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 (Bernama) -- Though not among the fancied at the World University Rowing Championship (WUC 2014), the Malaysian squad aims to still stage a surprise at the event from Sept 12-14 in Gravelines, France.
Malaysian Rowing Association (Perdama) President Abdul Malik Abd Ghani said the main focus of the squad this time is to notch some sort of success in Gravelines.
"In this regard, our rowers who comprise students from institutions of higher learning began training from the start of Ramadan, and are now preparing themselves to live up to this challenge," he told Bernama.
Abdul Malik said that despite not having any specific target, he believes the squad, which was picked from the Myanmar SEA Games last year, can surprise by at least making the final round.
"This is the third time we are participating in the WUC and Perdama will send five men rowers to participate in the individual, doubles and team events," he added.....
