Women's Hockey Squad Suffer Second Defeat

GLASGOW, July 25 (Bernama) -- The national women's hockey suffered their second consecutive defeat when they lost 0-2 to Scotland in Group B in the 20th Commonwealth Games here Friday.

Scotland, ranked 16th in the world, opened their campaign in the group with their veteran striker Ailsa Wyllie, 31, notching both goals, in the 25th and 39th minutes respectively.

Prior to this, Malaysia lost 0-4 to Australia in their opening match.

Malaysia's coach Mohd Nasihin Nubli Ibrahim said although both the matches did not go Malaysia's way, the team's performance was on an improving trend.

Malaysia next meet England on Sunday before completing the group stage against Wales on Wednesday.....
