Malaysia's Oldest Cyclist Seeks Sponsorship For Europe Endeavour

Last update: 11/07/2014

KOTA BAHARU, July 11 (Bernama) -- The fasting month has not deterred solo cyclist Wan Hashim Wan Mahmood, 68, from continuing with his training to prepare for his cycle-tour in Europe.

The oldest cyclist to circle Peninsular Malaysia in 28 days in February, he would be pedalling around a number of European countries including England and Holland beginning next month.

He said the endeavour would take four months involving 7,500 kilometres.

"I usually train 40 kilometres daily. But during the fasting month I will only start at 6 pm and cover 10 kilometres before returning home to break fast," he told Bernama when met at his residence in Jalan Telipot here today.

He is confident of being physically and mentally fit for the feat "to promote Malaysia in conjunction with the country's Independence Day".....
