Terengganu SUKMA Athletes To Receive Windfall Before Hari Raya

KUALA TERENGGANU, July 9 (Bernama) -- Terengganu athletes who won medals at the SUKMA in Perlis last month can expect a windfall before Hari Raya Aidilfitri as the state government has pledged to pay incentives for medal winners ahead of the celebrations.

Terengganu Menteri Besar Datuk Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman said medal winners will be paid incentives of RM5,000 for gold, RM3,000 for silver and RM2,000 for bronze.

"The total pay out under the incentive scheme is RM1.58 million. Nor Azita Ibrahim and her two siblings from Kanu will be the biggest winners. Nor Azita is expected to pocket RM36,500 while the family will take home a combined total of RM100,000," he said after the state exco meeting, here today.

Ahmad Razif said Youth and Sports and Human Resources committee chairman Datuk Rozi Mamat would set the date for the incentive payment.

In the SUKMA, Terengganu who finished as the runner-up behind Federal Territories picked up 51 gold, 55 silver and 31 bronze while Federal Territories as the overall champion had 55 gold, 38 silver and 49 bronze medals.....
