KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 (Bernama) -- National pole vaulter Iskandar Alwi will be going all out to renew the national record in the pole vault at the Commonwealth Games (CWG) in Glasgow, Scotland which kicks off on July 23.
The 20-year-old said he was determined to attain success in making his debut at the Games although aware that there would be stiff competition from the others.
Iskandar, a silver medallist in the SEA Games, holds the national record of 5.15 metres which he set at the Perlis Malaysia Games in May.
"I did not expect to be selected for the CWG so my responsibility now is even bigger. My performance has been improving since last year and I do not want to let this opportunity (to compete in the CWG) to go to waste," he told Bernama here today.
He added the CWG would also serve as good platform for exposure ahead of the Asian Games in Incheon from, Sept 19 to Oct 4.....
