KUALA LUMPUR, July 5 (Bernama) -- The athlete selected to replace Datuk Lee Chong Wei as Malaysia's flag bearer at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland will be announced on Monday.
Olympic Council of Malaysia (OCM) honorary secretary Datuk Sieh Kok Chi said the council was awaiting official information from the National Sports Council (NSC) and the National Institute of Sports (NIS) before making any decision.
"We have other athletes such as Azizulhasni Awang and Josiah Ng from cycling to replace Chong Wei, and we will be making the announcement soon," he said when contacted by Bernama Saturday.
The media today reported that Chong Wei had to withdraw from the championships scheduled from July 23 to Aug 3 following a thigh injury sustained during the Indonesian Badminton Open tournament last month.
A total of 179 athletes and 90 officials from 16 types of sports will be participating in the Commonwealth Games.....
