SINGAPORE, June 21 (Bernama) -- Iain Steel snared a decisive monster eagle putt on the final green as Malaysia raised the temperature on day two of the Prudential Causeway Trophy.

On a stiflingly hot day at Laguna National Golf and Country Club, Steel's 50-footer at the par-five 18th ensured the visitors will take a slender 6 - 5 advantage over Singapore into Sunday's 12 singles matches.

With his partner Danny Chia looking on nervously, Steel improbably holed out to secure a one-up triumph over Singapore number one Mardan Mamat and Koh Dengshan.

If Steel's effort had failed to drop, Koh would have had a short eagle putt to win the hole, square their match and tie the overall score at 6-6.

Steel said: "You don't expect to make putts like that. I guess it was mainly down to luck. All I wanted to do was to make Dengshan have to hole out his putt."
