SIBU, June 21 (Bernama) -- The Malaysia Taekwondo Association (MTA) is expected to sign a memorandum of understanding on Taekwondo training with Kukkiwon, the world Taekwondo headquarters in Seoul, South Korea to ensure students in the country will benefit from proper and latest techniques through qualified instructors.
MTA president Raja Taharuddin Raja Datuk Nong Chik who was speaking at the opening ceremony of the Second East Malaysia Zone Invitational Self Defence Taekwondo championships here today said MTA hoped to ink the MoU by end June.
More than 300 students from Sarawak, Sabah, Labuan, Penang, Terengganu and Kedah took part in the two-day annual event organised by the Sarawak Taekwondo Federation (STF, an affiliate of MTA/WTF), which was officiated by state Minister for Local Government and Community Development Datuk Sri Wong Soon Koh.
Raja Taharuddin said the MTA had established a well-defined framework to groom young talent in the country.
"We are all out to promote a culture of excellence in the martial art and Olympic sports," he said.....
