PUTRAJAYA, June 17 (Bernama) -- The International University Sports Federation (FISU) are hoping that Malaysia will bid to host Universiade 2021, said its Secretary-General Eric Saintrond.

The FISU delegation headed by Saintrond believed the Malaysian Universities Sports Council (MASUM) is a strong organisation that is capable of organising major sports events.

"I believe you (MASUM) are already a strong sports association to organize a programme at national level. So it is not impossible to organize an international level event like the Universiade Games.

"It is important for Malaysia to host this gigantic event, not only for sports and education of the Malaysian students, but also for tourism purposes," he said after attending the MASUM Sports Awards, here Tuesday.

Saintrond said South Korea will host Universiade 2015, followed by Taipei (Universiade 2017) and Brazil (Universiade 2019).....
