Police Have Identified Syndicates Involved In Illegal Football Betting - Hadi Ho

BERUAS, June 11 (Bernama) -- Police have identified a syndicate involved in illegal football betting activities involving the 2014 FIFA World Cup that starts in Brazil on Friday said Bukit Aman CID director Datuk Hadi Ho Abdullah.

Hadi Ho said investigations involving illegal football betting was carried out by the Secret Societies, Vice and Gambling (D7) Division of Bukit Aman.

"We have ways to identify such syndicates and we have information of such syndicates, be it local or international," he told reporters after opening the newly built RM4.4 million Beruas police station, here WEdnesday.

He made this remarks when commenting on Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi's statement that the ministry would cooperate with Interpol and FIFA to monitor illegal betting activities during the 2014 World Cup in Brazil from June 12 to July 14.

Hadi Ho said police, through experts on illegal gambling, would also mobilise a forensics unit with the cooperation of the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission, private security and telecommunication companies to curb such activities.....
