Pandelela Fails To Clinch Second Medal In Final Leg Of World Diving Series

KUALA LUMPUR, June 9 (Bernama) -- National diving queen, Pandelela Rinong failed to secure her second medal in the final leg of the 2014 FINA Diving World Series held in Monterrey, Mexico.

The 21-year old Sarawakian who partnered Cheong Jun Hoong to claim the silver medal in the women's 10m synchronised platform on Friday, only managed to finish in fifth place out of six divers in the individual category, held early today.

Pandelela amassed 363.35 points while Canadian diver, Meaghan Benfeito showcased sensational dive to clinch the gold medal with 398.20 points while China's Liu Huixia, who won the gold in the previous three legs, had to settle for silver after scoring 395.30 points.

Hosts diver, Estrella Alejandra won the bronze medal after amassing 369.20 points. Liu emerged as the overall champion after the final leg concluded with 98 points, followed by Pandelela with 78 points while Roseline Filion of Canada was in third with 62 points.

Benfeito finished in overall fourth position with 60 points.....
