KUALA PERLIS, June 3 (Bernama) -- Sarawak strongwoman Jelinie Empera smashed two Sukma records enroute to sweeping both the Snatch and Clean & Jerk gold medals in the Above 75kg category as weightlifting events came to a close Tuesday at the Institut Kemahiran Belia Negara (IKBN), Kuala Perlis.

Jelinie Empera started the day on the right path by lifting 85kg to win the women's Snatch gold and rewrite the old record of 84kg set by Nur Jannah Batrisyah from Johor at the 2010 Sukma in Melaka.

Her winning lift of 85kg was 14kg more than second placed Pahang weightlifter Nur Syafikah Mohd Azham who managed 71kg while Selangor's Siti Hajar Mariana Mishad took the bronze after clearing 70kg.

The 20-year-old came back on stage to accomplish a grand double by winning the Clean & Jerk gold with a lift of 107kg which also erased Nur Jannah's old mark of 106kg.

Her winning margin in the Clean & Jerk was 15kg better than second placed Devonalornix Galvin, who happens to be her team mate from Sarawak (93kg).....
