KUALA LUMPUR, June 3 (Bernama) -- MotoGP legend Mick Doohan will attend as a special guest at the 2014 eni FIM Superbike World Championship (WSBK) Malaysian Round in Sepang this weekend.
Sepang International Circuit (SIC) chief executive officer Datuk Razlan Razali said Doohan would participate in promotional activities and events lined up for the week in conjunction with WSBK, apart from attending the main event.
"It's a great honour for us at SIC to be working with Mick, who is a legend in the sports and who still commands a strong following among the fans worldwide especially Malaysia," Razlan said in a statement on the Australian whose real name is Michael Doohan.
Doohan held the title of world 500cc champion from 1994 to 1998, and was victorious at the Malaysian Grand Prix five times, in 1992, 1994, 1995, 1997 and 1998.
He retired in 1999 due to injury but was able to compete at the inaugural Malaysian Motorcycle Grand Prix race in Sepang that year where he finished fourth.....
