Poor Performance By National Divers In Fifth Leg Of World Series

KUALA LUMPUR, May 31 (Bernama) -- The national diving team put up a dismal performance after all three pairs were unable to make a podium finish in the fifth leg of the 2014 FINA Diving World Series held at the Windsor International Aquatic and Training Centre in Canada, early today.

Recently-crowned Women's Team of the Year, Pandelela Rinong and Leong Mun Yee finished in fourth position in the 10m synchronised platform after scoring 306.24 points, according to Fina website www.fina.org.

Host divers, Meaghan Benfeito and Roseline Filion rose to the top by capturing the gold medal after scoring 330.75 points.

Sarah Barrow and Tonia Couch of Great Britain took the silver with 311.10 points while Australian pair, Emily Boyd and Lara Tarvit had to settle for bronze after accumulating 308.58 points.

Another Malaysian pair, Cheong Jun Hoong and Ng Yan Yee also finished in fourth position of the women's 3m sychronised springboard after amassing 297.60 points. Wang Han and He Zi retained China's domination in the events after scoring 326.40 points for the gold medal, followed by the host pairs, Pamela Ware and Jennifer Abel with silver (326.25 points) while Italian pairs, Tania Cagnatto and Francesca Dallape had to settle for bronze medal after accumulating 308.10 points.....
