Chew Reclaims Sukma Diving Gold After Two-year Absence

KANGAR, May 29 (Bernama) - Selangor diver Chew Yi Wei clinched the men's 3m springboard diving gold medal at the 17th Malaysia Games (Sukma) at the Swimming Complex in Kangar here Thursday after a two-year absence.

Chew, 19, who was a national diver since age 13, admitted he was worried about reclaiming the gold medal he won in the 15th Sukma in Pahang.

"I did not turn out for the last Sukma as I was away for an international event.

"At international championships, the pressure is not on me. However, here I have to live up to expectations," he told reporters after the event.

Chew scored 389.65 points to take the gold followed by Muhammad Syafiq Puteh of Perak who collected 328.00 points for the silver while the bronze went to Federal Territories diver Hanis Nazirul Jaya Surya (316.00 points).....
