KANGAR, May 28 (Bernama) -- The 17th Malaysia Games (Sukma) aquatic events which should have started today, will commence tomorrow at the State Sports Complex Aquatics Centre, said National Sports Council (NSC) Sports Management Division director Datuk Abdul Jalil Abdullah.
Abdul Jalil said platform improvements and anti-slip mats were all in place and all safety aspects had been looked into.
"All outstanding matters have been settled. A delay of one day is normal. The same happened at the last Sukma in Pahang in 2012.
"What is important is the comfort and safety of the athletes. Also this venue can be used by the state's athletes for training after the Sukma is over," he told Bernama here Wednesday.
On the request of Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Datuk M. Saravanan yesterday, the aquatics events were deferred to Thursday to ensure the safety aspects were in order.....
