KANGAR, May 28 (Bernama) -- Noor Masayu Zahir Mozni became the first athlete from SUKMA host, Perlis, to contribute a gold medal from petanque.

In the final held at the Tuanku Syed Putra Sports Complex, Kangar, Noor Masayu defeated Sharifah Aqilah Farhana Syed Ali from Terengganu 22-10 to clinch the gold while Nurul Atiqah Abu Talib from Negeri Sembilan took the bronze after beating Nur Syafiqah Abdul Razab from Perak, 23-6.

Noor Masayu, 21, described her victory as the most meaningful in her participation through the SUKMA since it would be her last appearance since she would not be eligible to compete in the next SUKMA due to age factor.

"I had set the gold medal target right from the start since the games is being held in my home state. In my three previous appearances, I have never won a medal," she said.

In the men's category, Ezri Hafizurahman Razali from Sarawak took the gold after beating Mohd Adri Abdul Jalil from Terengganu, 27-24 while Shakirin Syed Abd Kadir from Johor beat Mohamad Zarol Islah Rashid from Perak, 30-19, to clinch the bronze.....
