Daniel Tan Wins Men's Singles Gold On Third Attempt

KANGAR, May 28 (Bernama) -- It was a happy ending for Sarawak kegler Daniel Tan's SUKMA campaign when he clinched the men's singles tenpin bowling gold Kayangan Square Mall Bowling Centre on his third attempt, during a competition that ended well past midnight.

Daniel Tan, 21, competing in his third SUKMA, knocked down 1,337 pins to beat Melaka's Ahmad Aidil Abdul Halim by 16 pins while Syed Mohammad Hafiz Syed Hussien from Johor knocked down 1,315 pins to take the bronze.

Though Daniel Tan had to wait until 1.30am to ensure the victory, he was fully satisfied with the outcome.

"I am both happy and relieved to have won the singles gold medal in my third and final SUKMA," he told reporters here Wednesday.

The Sarawakian had won a gold and silver medal respectively in the men's team event at the 2010 SUKMA in Melaka and 2012 SUKMA in Pahang.....
