KANGAR, May 27 (Bernama) -- The Terengganu contingent dominated the canoeing events, winning five gold medals to push the contingent to the top of the medal tally on the last day of the canoeing events at the 17th Malaysia Games (Sukma), here today.
The state emerged as the overall champion in the event at the Water Sports Complex, Tasik Timah Tasoh in Padang Besar with a tally of 14 gold and eight silver medals.
In the final event Tuesday, Terengganu collected five more gold medals through the 200 metres women's K1 event won by Nor Azita Ibrahim, Fatimah Ngah (women's TK1), Ahmad Shafiq Moha and Muhammad Uweis Arqroni Rahmat (men's K2), and Nor Azita Ibrahim and Noor Azira Ibrahim (women's K2).
The team from the East Coast completed their fifth gold medal in the last event through the combination of Akmal Idayu Mat Razik, Fatin Ajeerah Wahab, Azita and Azira in the women's K4 event.
Terengganu collected 16 gold, 10 silver and seven bronze medals followed by the Penang contingent with 10 gold, three silver and five bronze medals.....
