KANGAR, May 27 (Bernama) -- In a twist of events, the Menteri Besar of Perlis and not the Amateur Swimming Union of Malaysia (ASUM) will decide whether the newly built swimming complex in Perlis can host swimming and diving events for the 17th SUKMA.
"We (ASUM) have seen the condition of the swimming complex but we cannot make a final decision because the competition is scheduled to start tomorrow.
"The final decision on the swimming complex will depend on a meeting between the contractor and the Menteri Besar. We will wait for their decision," said ASUM honorary secretary Edwin Chong when contacted by Bernama, here Tuesday after chairing a SUKMA managers meeting for swimming.
Chong said ASUM were concerned with three main factors, the water flow in the two pools, anti-slip mat on the diving platform and the floodlights at the complex.
Work on the roof was still in progress when Bernama visited the swimming complex while water in the pool was still murky.....
