NSC Wants BAM To Give Back Up Squad Players More Exposure At Major International Competitions

ARAU, May 26 (Bernama) -- The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has been urged to provide more opportunities for back up squad players to compete in major international competitions.

National Sports Council (NSC) director-general Datuk Seri Zolkples Embong also wants the performance of senior players in the team to be reviewed.

"Young players like Misbun Ramdan Misbun, Lee Soon Huat and a few others need to be exposed at high level competitions to ensure the country will not be derived of quality players in the future," he said.

Zolkples when met at the opening of the SUKMA Games village at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) here said Malaysia's defeat to Japan in the final of the Thomas Cup in New Delhi Sunday night proved that the country needed strong back players.

The Games village for the SUKMA hosted by Perlis was opened by Perlis Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azlan Man while the SUKMA has been scheduled to be opened by Raja Perlis, Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin Putra Jamalullail, Monday night.....
