PUTRAJAYA, May 24 (Bernama) -- Prove that Malaysia can do it, said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin today when commenting on the success of the Malaysian badminton squad to advance to the final of the Thomas Cup competition after beating Indonesia 3-0 in the semifinals yesterday.
Describing the win as the best opportunity for Malaysia to lift the trophy after a drought of 22 years, Khairy said it proved that the Malaysian shuttlers were capable of springing a surprise when they exceeded the initial target, which was to qualify for the semifinals.
"I hope they will realise the aspiration of all Malaysians to see the national squad beating Japan in the final.
"However, I wish to advise the players not to be too confident. Fight until the final victory belongs to Malaysia," he told reporters, here.
Malaysia will face Japan in the final tomorrow after the latter beat China in another semifinal match.....
