Uber Cup: Malaysia Fails To Make It To Quarterfinals

NEW DELHI, May 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's women's team failed to make it to the quarterfinals of the Li Ning BWF Uber Cup 2014 after losing their second match against Japan in Group Z at the Siri Fort Stadium here, Tuesday.

"I am satisfied with our performance because our opponents are very strong. They (the national players) fought for every point and did not go down without a fight. I applaud their effort," national women's singles coach Wong Tat Meng told reporters after the match.

He said unfortunately, the team could not win the round and achieve the target of going to the quarter finals.

"I apologise as the team failed to make it to quarterfinals, which was our target," he said.

Tee Jing Yi, who was the sole point contributor in today's match defeated Sayaka Takahashi in straight sets of 22-20, 21-19.....
