KUALA LUMPUR, May 18 (Bernama) -- National squash queen and world number one player, Datuk Nicol David avenged her defeat last year to the world number two, Lauro Massaro of England, by clinching her fifth British Open title.
In the final match held at the Sports Arena, University of Hull, England on Sunday, the top seed went down in the first set before she fought back brilliantly to register an 8-11, 11-5, 11-7 and 11-8 win against Massaro, the second seed in the 64-minute match, according to the tournament's website;www.allambritishopensquash.com.
Nicol won the British Open title four times - in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2012.
The victory is the second for the 30-year-old Penangite this year after claiming the Cleveland Squash Classic title in Ohio, United States in February.
World number one men's player, Nick Matthew of England will meet his rival, Gregory Gaultier of France in the men's final match of the British Open, later Sunday.....
