KUALA LUMPUR, May 16 (Bernama) -- National squash queen and world number one player, Datuk Nicol David cruised into the last eight of the 2014 British Open which is being held at the Sports Arena in University of Hull, England.
In the second round match played early today, the top seed defeated host player, 16th seed Sarah-Jane Perry, 11-6, 13-11 and 11-4 in 40 minutes, according to the tournament's website www.allambritishopensquash.com.
The 30-year old Penangite, who is gunning for her fifth British Open title, will square off against 11th seeded Omneya Abdel Kawy of Egypt in the quarter-final.
"Glad to win 3-0 especially having a close second game against Sarah-Jane. On to the quarters with Omneya Abdel Kawy (later Friday)," Nicol tweeted.
She won the British Open in 2005, 2006, 2008 and 2012.....
