KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 (Bernama) -- National hammer throw National record holder Jacky Wong is hoping to clinch a ticket to the 2014 Asian Games in Incheon, South Korea after missing the boat to the Glasgow Commonwealth Games (CWG) in Scotland.
The Sarawakian who admitted that his chances of making it to Scotland before July was remote, lamented the lack of top level competitions as one of the reasons for his inability to try and qualify on merit.
"The Commonwealth Games is in July...so with time running out and lack of big competitions coming by, it will certainly dash my hopes of making it to Glasgow.
"Therefore, I am now focusing on qualifying for the Asian Games in September and I am confident of doing it," he told Bernama, Thursday.
Wong who is pursuing his studies at Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) said his coach Gu Yuan from China wants him to improve his personal best to have any chance of beating the Asian Games qualifying mark of 65m.....
