KUALA LUMPUR, May 15 (Bernama) -- Malaysia's very own Formula One driver Alex Yoong will once again spearhead the country's challenge in the Audi R8 LMS Cup that revs up in Yeongam, South Korea over the weekend.
The Audi R8 LMS Cup has entered the 2014 season with an expanded field of up to 24 cars and a new push-to-pass engine boost for increased overtaking action with 12 races over six race weekends scheduled for 2014.
The Asia-based sprint race series which is the only Audi brand cup worldwide gets underway on May 17-18 at the Korea International Circuit in Yeongam, South Korea. With the addition of Yeongam, the 2014 race calendar now includes four Asian F1 tracks.
"I am very much looking forward to our season opener at Yeongam. The Korea International Circuit is a demanding track with great facilities for fans, drivers and teams. We have put together an exciting calendar for the 2014 season with some of the best racing circuits in Asia", commented Rene Koneberg, Director of Audi Sport customer racing Asia.
Among others, the driver line-up includes Swiss driver Rahel Frey, the former Macau GP winner Andre Couto and young talents Aidan Wright from Australia and Matt Solomon from Hong Kong.....
