KUCHING, May 12 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak SUKMA contingent, currently in their final phase of preparations for the SUKMA in Perlis, are confident of coming home with a bigger gold medal haul and a better overall position.
Sarawak, three times overall champion in the SUKMA, will go all out to win at least 55 gold medals and finish among the top three, especially after having fourth in 2012 behind Terengganu, Selangor and Pahang respectively, with 42 gold, 32 silver and 38 bronze medals.
State Minister for Social Development Tan Sri William Mawan said he was confident that the state contingent would do better in the Games.
"With the spirit and commitment shown as well as intensive preparation, I am confident we can unleash our potential," said Mawan at a press conference after a briefing with team officials, here today.
Sarawak will be led by Assistant Sports Minister Datuk Lee Khmim Shin as chef-de-mission and the Ministry of Social Development Permanent Secretary Affandi Keli as the deputy chef-de-mission.....
