Johor Sailing Squad Targets Two Gold Medals At Sukma

JOHOR BAHARU, May 11 (Bernama) -- The Johor sailing squad is confident of contributing at least two gold medals to the state contingent at the 17th Malaysian Games (Sukma) in Perlis at the end of the month.

Johor Yachting Association president Datuk Kamaruzzaman Abu Kassim said the target was pegged to Naquib Eiman Shahrin in the Optimist category, and the pair of Nuraisyah Jamil/Nur Laila Azni Arjuna in International 420.

"The target is based on the performance of the Johor sailing althletes in championships they took part at national level, and the preparation by the team," he said in a statement here Sunday.

He said in three championships at national level this year, the Johor sailing squad had won five gold medals through the Optimist category and International 420.

He said for the coming Sukma, 17 athletes would be sent for sailing events in seven categories which offered 13 gold medals.....
