KOTA KINABALU, May 11 (Bernama) -- Sabah is confident of achieving the 20 gold-medal target at the 17th Malaysia Games (Sukma) based on its thorough preparation in several potential sports, including athletics, karate and swimming.
State Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan said Sabah athletes were put through the paces since early this year to enable them to shine during the Games (May 24-June4).
Sabah's 400-strong contingent, including 330 athletes, will be heading for Perlis for Sukma in stages after the flag handover ceremony on May 21, he told reporters after officiating the Sabahfm Carnival at the Communications and Multimedia Ministry's Integrated Complex here today.
Tawfiq advised Sabah officials and athletes to maintain discipline during Sukma as they would be the state's ambassadors.
On the carnival, he said it enabled Sabahfm to enlighten people on government policies and the functions of the Communications and Multimedia Ministry.....
