KUALA LUMPUR, May 6 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Silat Federation (Pesaka) has set a four-gold target for the World Pencak Silat Championships in Indonesia come December.
Pesaka secretary-general Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omar Din said he was confident that the target can be achieved through a blend a young and experienced squad of exponents.
Megat said the National Silat team which participated in the Belgium Open Silat Championships recently had emerged as the overall champion with eight gold, two silver and one bronze medal.
"We are indeed proud of the achievement, especially the performance of young exponents. We hope they can maintain the momentum at the world championships. We will be sending 28 exponents to Indonesia, including 12 women," he told Bernama, Tuesday.
Megat also reminded the Silat exponents to remain focused and not underestimate the opposition from countries like Belgium, Holland and Spain, as these countries had shown tremendous improvement.....
