TAWAU, May 5 (Bernama) -- Sabah Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Tawfiq Abu Bakar Titingan said it was about time Malaysia, especially Sabah, make its presence felt in the international basketball calendar on merit.
As such, he said Malaysia must prove its capability as a good organiser and host for such sports championships to enable the country to be picked as host for bigger championships in the future.
"I want to take this opportunity to invite local players and fans of basketball to come out en masse to watch the basketball players they idolise. I am sure you will be entertained when witnessing highly skilled players play in the championship," he said.
He said this in his speech when opening the 2014 Under-18 South East Asia Basketball Championship organised by the Malaysian Basketball Association and the Sabah Basketball Association, at the Tawau Community Hall, here tonight.
The championship was participated by Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia.....
