IGP Asks Police Personnel To Relive Glory Days In Sports

KOTA KINABALU, April 21 (Bernama) -- Police personnel have been urged to relive the force's glory days in sports.

The call came from the Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar who said facilities would be provided to encourage police personnel to improve their sport performance.

"The police used to have eminent players in the 70s and 80s in football, badminton, sepak takraw, athletics, rugby, hockey, and netball," he said at the presentation of the IGP Cup Golf Tournament 2014 in Kota Kinabalu, Sunday night.

His speech was read by Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin.

Khalid said the main objective of the competition was to unearth talents and prepare police golfers for national and international tournaments such as the World Police and Fire Games.....
