Germany's Konschak Clinches Third Consecutive Kapas-Marang Swimathon Title

MARANG, April 20 (Bernama) -- Benjamin Konschak of Germany and Irene Chong from Kuala Lumpur emerged as the champions in the men's and women's categories respectively in the Kapas-Marang International Swimathon 2014 which ended at Pantai Kelulut, here, Sunday.

Konschak, 27, completed the 6.5km swimathon in 1 hour 19 minutes 58 seconds, creating a new record en route to the men's overall title while Irene clocked 1:37.40s.

In doing so, the Frankfurt-born who works as teacher, repeated his winning feat for the third consecutive time. He took home a trophy and RM3,000.

Malaysia's Choong Kei Yern took second place in the men's category after coming 13 minutes three seconds adrift of Konschak while Choong's compatriot Barry Lee was third.

Ukrainian Nataliya Simak, finished second and Tiffany Oon from Malaysia third respectively in the women's category.....
