KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 16 (Bernama) -- For many local golfing fans, the Malaysian Open golf championship is an annual event they've been waiting for, as the Malaysian Golf Association (MGA) has been hosting it for over 50 years now.
And the 53rd edition of the Malaysian Open golf championship is set to field among the strongest challenge in the history of the competition.
Ten former champions have confirmed their participation, which includes former world number one, Lee Westwood.
"It's certainly nice to be back. It's been a few years since I played here and 17 years since I won...probably before someone in the field was ever born," said Westwood, who won the Malaysian Open in 1997.
The other former champions in this year's 156 field are Louis Oosthuizen (2012), Matteo Manassero (2011), Thongchai Jaidee (2004 and 2005), Yeh Wei-tze (2000), Arjun Atwal (2003 and 2008), Alastair Forsyth (2002), Peter Hedblom (2007), Anthony Kang (2009) and defending champion, Kiradech Aphibarnrat.....
