KUALA LUMPUR, April 16 (Bernama) -- Le Tour de Langkawi 2014 technical director Ibrahim Omar has been selected as one of the technical directors for the 2014 Asian Cycling Confederation (ACC 2014) championships from May 21 to June 1 at Astana, Kazakhstan.
Malaysian National Cycling Federation (MNCF) president Datuk Abu Samah Abdul Wahab said the selection of Ibrahim was the highest honour for Malaysia and it proved the country's technical expertise was recognised by the ACC.
"Personally, I am very excited and proud that a Malaysian has been chosen to assist Kazakhstan. It is a heavy responsibility on Ibrahim as the role needed rigorous scrutiny," he said in a statement today.
Abu Samah who is also ACC vice-president said among the duties of Ibrahim in the championships would be to propose and inspect the routes for each event, including the men's elite mass start.
He said as far as the track was concerned, there would be no problem since Astana has a world standard closed velodrome which has hosted the World Track Cycling Championships.....
