Japan's Nidaira Ends Indian Ace Ruthvika's Campaign

ALOR SETAR, April 15 (Bernama) -- Unseeded Japanese shuttler Nidaira Natsuki pulled off a pleasant upset in the BWF World Junior Championships 2014 by booting out world junior number seven G. Ruthvika Shivani from India in the third round at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium here today.

Nidaira edged Ruthvika 22-20, 21-19 in straight sets to move into the next round of the women's singles competition and will face Croatian ace Maja Pavlinic who is ranked number 16 in the world junior ranking.

Akane Yamaguchi ranked number one in the World Junior ranking, cruised into the next round after beating China's Chen Xiaoxin 21-19, 21-19.

Malaysia's women's singles hopefuls Goh Jin Wei and Lee Ying Ying will be spearheading the country's challenge in the championships after beating their respective opponents from South Korea and Germany, to book their berth in the next round.

Jin Wei took just 20 minutes to dispose Yvonne Li of Germany 21-10, 21-7, while her compatriot Ying Ying ended the South Korean player's campaign in straight sets, 21-11, 21-12 in 31 minutes.....
