ALOR SETAR, April 14 (Bernama) -- The top-seeded in the men and women's singles, Indonesia's Jonatan Christie and Akane Yamaguchi of Japan, stamped their mark to advance into the third round of the BWF World Junior Championships 2014 at the Sultan Abdul Halim Stadium here Monday.
The world junior number one made short work of his opponent, Youcef Sabri Medel of Algeria to win the game 21-18, 21-8 in 16 minutes, and is set to face Russian ace Vladimir Shishkov in the next round.
Malaysian top men's singles Cheam June Wei also advanced to the next round after defeating Japan's Kazuki Kirita 21-15, 21-19.
"I am quite nervous today because this is my first game in the court after the team event. (Moreover) My opponent is also playing very well.
"But I will be more confident tomorrow after getting back the fighting spirit and tournament feeling today," he told reporters here.....
